1. Wenyu River Waterfront Greenway
The Wenyu River is a natural river in Beijing with year-round water. It is sparkling and lined with green trees. Tall trees stand on both sides of the river, creating a unique landscape of “clear water and green banks”.
With years of ecological environment construction, the water quality of the Wenyu River has been significantly improved. Reeds, wild ducks, and egrets are the best reflections of the excellent ecological environment of the Wenyu River.
The Wenyu River Greenway has a total of 13 visitor service centers and stations. This greenway is positioned as a suburban greenway, with cycling as the main activity and walking as a secondary activity. The total length of the greenway is about 108.5 km.
2. Shunyi New City Riverside Forest Park Greenway
The Shunyi New City Riverside Forest Park Greenway is located in the C, D, and E zones of the Shunyi New City Riverside Forest Park, which is an urban park in Beijing with both forests and water, and relatively high water quality.
The greenway is not only the section with the most shoals and the widest river channel along the Chaobai River, but also the section with the best tree growth in the park. The greenway is equipped with supporting service facilities such as toilets.
The Shunyi New City Riverside Forest Park Greenway has a large loop and a small loop. The small loop is 2 km to 5 km long, suitable for walking, while the large loop is 16 km long, suitable for cycling and walking.
3. Haidian Three Mountains and Five Gardens Greenway
Cycling on the Three Mountains and Five Gardens Greenway, from the solemn imperial gardens to the leisurely modern parks, to the community parks with a strong sense of life, the scenery constantly changes, as if traveling through time.
There are rich tourism resources in the area, including 13 parks and green spaces, and 7 leisure venues. In addition, this area has a rich historical heritage, with historical and cultural relics such as the ancient Xiangdao Road, the imperial road, the Gongshen Temple, the Miaoyun Temple, and the Husan Yanghua Fang.
Trail route: The greenway starts from the west gate of Tsinghua University, passes through the west gate of Peking University to Haidian Park, from the east gate of Haidian Park, it goes southwest along the green space of the Fourth Ring Road, crosses the Huoqiying Bridge to the Sihai Bridge, goes northwest along the green space of Beiwu Village Road to the south of Yuyuan Mountain, goes north along the Yuyuan Mountain Road to the south side of the Beihany River green space, goes west to the Xiangquan roundabout, Xiangshan Road, goes south along the Xiangshan South Road to Minzhuang Road, and the whole line of the green space north of Minzhuang Road.
4. Second Ring Road Urban Greenway
The Second Ring Road is the most important traffic loop trunk road in Beijing. There are many historical relics and cultural attractions along the road, with a rich historical and cultural background. It plays a key role in connecting the entire green space system in Beijing.
Greenway route: The North Second Ring Road section (from Xizhimen to Dongzhimen) runs through the urban parks within the inner loop and the waterfront green spaces along the moat outside the loop; the East Second Ring Road section (from Dongzhimen to Dongbianmen) runs through the urban parks inside and outside the loop; the South Moat section (from Dongbianmen to Xibianmen) runs through the waterfront green spaces along the moat and four urban parks along the river: Baimi Fanghua Garden, Nanxiang Big Green Space, Jinzhongdu Park, and Xibinhe Park; the West Second Ring Road section (from Xibianmen to Xizhimen) runs through the Financial Street green space and Shunchen Park along the inner loop.
