II. Reference Itinerary:
Day 1: Depart from Beijing, get off the highway at Yehu Ling Exit, this section is about 230 kilometers and takes about 4 hours, mainly because it will take longer to get out of Beijing city; depart in the morning and enter Grassland Sky Road at noon, it is suitable to drive from west to east along the Grassland Sky Road at this time, you won’t be directly exposed to the sun, and the scenery (backlit) will be better with your back to the sun; it will take 4 to 5 hours to drive about 100 kilometers of Grassland Sky Road, it is suitable to walk and play; after getting off Grassland Sky Road, stay in Guyuan County.
Day 2: If you are interested, you can visit Lightning River and Lightning Lake, then head to Xilinhot, visit Xilin Gol Grassland along the way, and be sure to visit Pingding Mountain to see the most beautiful sunset on the grassland in the evening, and stay in Xilinhot at night.
Day 3: Pass through Gongger Grassland and reach Dalai Lake to visit, watch the sunset over the lake in the evening, compare which is more beautiful, the sunset at Pingding Mountain or the sunset at Dalai Lake, and stay overnight on the south shore of Dalai Lake.
Day 4: Depart from the south shore of Dalai Lake, take Dada Line to Keshiketeng Stone Forest, visit and then take Re’a Line to Hot Spring Development Zone (Hot Spring Town) to stay and soak in hot springs. This day’s journey is about 200 kilometers, and along the way, you will pass by Huanggang Liang National Forest Park on Re’a Line, you can also visit it if you are interested.
Day 5: Depart from Hot Spring Development Zone around 6:00 am, pass through Chifeng, Chengde and return home, the journey for this day is about 680 kilometers, it will take about 11 hours if you don’t stop, you will pass by Keshiketeng World Geopark Qingshan Garden along the way, if you plan to spend 2 or 3 hours visiting, you should be able to get home around 8:00 pm at the latest.
