Recommended Mountains to Climb in Hefei during May Day

Hefei is a great place to go hiking during the May Day holiday. There are many great hiking spots in Hefei, and we will introduce some of them to you in detail. We recommend you to climb the Zi Peng Mountain, Da Shu Mountain, Chao Lake Yin Ping Mountain, etc. Please refer to the following for more details.

I. Zi Peng Mountain

Recommended reason: Zi Peng Mountain is located north of Hefei with convenient transportation. It is only about 20 kilometers away from the city, and you can reach the top of the mountain by car. Another 8 kilometers, you can drive into the heart of the Yuan Tong Mountain. In spring, you can enjoy flowers, hike and climb mountains in Zi Peng Mountain. There are many activities for tourists in the Zi Peng Mountain.

Transportation Guide

Bus: Take bus No. 80, departing from Furong Road Bus Station, and get off at Zi Peng Mountain (Foreign Language Institute). The service time of the terminal station is: Furong Road Bus Station 6:30~19:30, Zi Peng Mountain Station 6:30~19:15.

Self-driving route: From Yulan Avenue at the foot of Da Shu Mountain, turn west at Xinhua College (direction of the wildlife park), go straight past Xinhua College for about 200 meters, there is a T-junction, turn left (south), and then go straight all the way. The whole journey is less than 30 kilometers. Or you can take Fanhua Avenue from Mingzhu Square, drive west all the way to reach the destination.

II. Da Shu Mountain

Recommended reason: The Da Shu Mountain in spring is full of green, the trees in the forest are green, and the flowers are blooming. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can see the panoramic view of Hefei. After visiting the Da Shu Mountain in Hefei, we recommend going to the Hefei Shu Mountain West Extension Park to enjoy the flowers. Immersed in the garden, you can enjoy the colorful and romantic blossoms of cherry blossoms, peach blossoms and crabapple blossoms, as well as the unique and elegant garden landscape. It is a very pleasant experience to bring a tent and rent a bicycle to ride around the park.

III. Chao Lake Yin Ping Mountain

Recommended reason: Located in Yinping Town, south of Chao Lake City, on the south bank of Chao Lake, it is famous for its limestone caves and stalactites. It is a majestic mountain in the Chongyan Mountains. The reason why the mountain is named “Yinping” is because there is a huge rock on the mountain, which is silver in color and shaped like a vase. There is a Xianren Cave on the mountain, which is famous for its collection of exotic flowers, strange caves, strange trees, ancient temples, famous pavilions, and tall towers. On the cliff above the cave entrance, grows a vigorous and verdant strange flower – the thousand-year-old white peony “Yinping Peony”. When the Valley Rain comes, it blooms beautifully. Tourists can only look up at its fairy-like posture from afar, but they are out of reach. The magical thing is that it has a spirit, can predict good omens, and predict the harvest, so it is known as the “First Strange Flower in the World”. The Peony Pavilion is three-story and octagonal, and is referred to as the “First Pavilion in Anhui”. Longxing Temple, formerly known as “Jiuhua in the north of the Yangtze River”, is bustling with incense. A sightseeing cableway has been opened from the Peony Pavilion to Longxing Temple.

Transportation: Citizens can take a bus to Chao Lake, and then take a shuttle bus directly to the scenic spot from Chao Lake City.

Self-driving route: Starting from the city center, take the North-South No. 1 overpass, then enter Bahe Avenue, turn east at the intersection of Bahe Avenue and Yungu Road, enter Huanhu North Road, and drive east along Huanhu North Road to reach Zhongmiao.

IV. Feidong Sidingshan

Recommended reason: Sidingshan, located in Liujiafan Town, Feidong County, on the north bank of Chao Lake, is 174 meters above sea level and covers an area of 2.67 square kilometers. It is named after the four peaks of the mountain. Sidingshan is known for its beautiful natural and cultural landscapes, as well as its unique blend of mountains and lakes. The beauty of Sidingshan is best seen at dawn. Legend has it that Wei Boyang, a Taoist alchemist in the Eastern Han Dynasty, once practiced alchemy here, and the cinnabar and fairy powder left behind at the foot of the mountain reflected the morning glow, radiating a strange light. Sidingshan’s morning glow has been listed as one of the “Eight Sceneries of Luyang” and the “Eight Sceneries of Chao Lake”.

Transportation: There are no known buses from Hefei to Feidong Sidingshan. Citizens can take a bus to Cuozhen and then transfer to reach the destination.

Self-driving route: From the city government square, take the North-South No. 1 overpass and enter Bahe Avenue. Bahe Avenue enters X024. Drive along X024 for 7.6 kilometers, turn right after Dakang, drive 980 meters, pass Heishi Village on the right, and reach the destination (on the right side of the road) (for reference only)

V. Huangshan Mountain

Recommended reason: In spring, climb Huangshan Mountain to enjoy the flowers. On the mountain ridges and peaks, all the way, the mountain flowers are delicate, blooming in turn, competing for beauty, dazzling with red, purple and green colors, dancing with the green mountains, and the air is filled with sweet fragrance. In spring, listen to the pulse of life collide with the echoes of the rocks on Huangshan Mountain, the transparent shadows of the pines swaying in the floating clouds and mist between the mountains, gradually fading in and out, or thick or light.

Huangshan Mountain in spring is dominated by green, with red, pink and white randomly interspersed, creating a new realm for Chinese and foreign tourists to enjoy the spring scenery, climb high and appreciate the flowers, and savor the journey.

Transportation: Take a bus or train from Hefei to Huangshan Scenic Area.

Self-driving route: Drive from Hefei along the Jingtai Expressway towards Tangkou/Yixian/Huangshan Scenic Area, exit at the Tangkou Expressway exit. The whole journey is about 280 kilometers, 3 hours.

VI. Jiuhua Mountain

Recommended reason: Spring is the most poetic and picturesque time of the year. Jiuhua Mountain is also enveloped in spring. The spring scenery of Jiuhua Mountain is boundless, and the flowers are blooming on Jiuhua Mountain. Faced with the endless spring light of Jiuhua Mountain, it is definitely a great opportunity to travel and relax. Spring outing to Jiuhua Mountain to climb high and look far, enjoy flowers and pray for blessings.
