Route 1, Lion Head Mountain

Lion Head Mountain, with an altitude of 305.1 meters, is located about 2 kilometers east of Changming Water Village. The mountain faces the Changjiang Reservoir, with a cliff on one side. It is one of the best places to overlook the panoramic view of the Changjiang Reservoir in Wugui Mountain, and also a good place to watch the sunrise in Zhongshan.

This route is about 8km long, with a total climb of 1022m, and the hiking time is about 5-6 hours. The route includes bamboo forest, woods, and mountain ridges. There are several steep ascents and descents, and there are many forks along the way. There are no restrooms or supplies along the way. The overall difficulty of this route is relatively high, suitable for hiking “old drivers” to check in!

Route 2, Xijiang Flower Island Park

Xijiang Flower Island Park has built a 3.7-kilometer-long Xijiang Beautiful Rural Landscape Demonstration Belt, which is the only one in Guangdong Province in 2022 that has been selected as a fine scenic spot for the China Beautiful Countryside Leisure and Tourism Tour (Spring) by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

It is the season of bougainvillea blossoms. The bougainvillea sea in Xijiang Flower Island Park is in full bloom, with red flowers and green leaves, which is quite spectacular. It is better to stroll in the flower sea than to spend the summer in an air-conditioned room.

Route 3, Qiaao Ancient Trail

Qiaao Ancient Trail, a treasure trove hiking route that offers ancient trails, jungles, streams, and bamboo forests, can meet your hiking and camping needs without being exposed to the sun. The Qiaao Ancient Trail was built in 1860, spanning Zhuhai, Zhongshan, and Macau. It is also known as “the Tea Horse Road of Modern Xiangshan” and “the Silk Road of Zhongshan”. The ancient trail is about 12km long, with an altitude of about 300 meters, and a total climb of 800 meters.

The overall difficulty of this route is moderate, suitable for entry-level hikers to take note of!

Route 4, Jinzhong Lake

Jinzhong Lake Park covers an area of over 900 mu, and the greenway surrounding Jinzhong Reservoir is over 12 kilometers long. There are countless scenic spots along the way, which are affectionately called “natural oxygen bar” by the people of Zhongshan. Surrounded by mountains and water, the scenery is picturesque. It is the first choice for many Zhongshan people to calm their minds and cultivate their bodies.

Surrounded by mountains, the two natural lakes in Guoxianglin Park have clear water and gurgling streams. When you walk in the park in the mist, you will feel like you are in a fairyland.

The tea plantation near the Jinzhong Greenway is also a good place to overlook the scenery. In the middle of the tea plantation on the hillside, a beautiful kapok tree is planted. Every year from October to mid-December, during the flowering season, the whole tree is pink, and together with several other kapok trees scattered in the garden, they are particularly beautiful against the backdrop of the surrounding green leaves.

Route 5, Zhongshun Dawai

The Xijiang River is one of the four major water systems in Guangdong Province. The Xijiang River embankment passing through Banfu, about half an hour’s drive from downtown Zhongshan, has a long coastline, attracting countless sports enthusiasts to check in.

Sanbao Li Bidao is located in Minzhong Street, with a total length of 4.5 kilometers. It is a rural type Bidao, built along the river, with lotus flowers clustered together and a cool breeze accompanying it. The natural scenery and ecological beauty are perfectly integrated.
