Where is Ling Shan Temple in Mianning? Is it worth visiting? How much does it cost to enter?

Ling Shan Temple is located in Sichuan Province, China, a historic Buddhist temple with a beautiful environment. It is a great place to relax and cleanse your soul. This article will provide a travel guide and ticket price analysis for Ling Shan Temple.

Ling Shan Temple is located in the deep mountains and forests of the western foot of Xiaoxiangling, 20 kilometers east of Mianning City. It is named after the high mountain behind it, Ling Shan.

It has been almost twenty years since I last visited Ling Shan, and fifty-five years since my father last came here.

In my second year of high school, before the physics, biology, and chemistry exams, a few of us classmates walked from the foot of the mountain all the way up to Ling Shan Temple. At that time, there was only one main hall in the temple, which enshrined the image of Yang Zuoshi, the founder of the temple. At night, we rented a few cotton blankets and slept on the wooden floor in the side hall. Staying overnight in the mountain temple, everything was quiet, the stars seemed to be within reach, and my heart became calm, without any anxiety about the upcoming exam.

Now you can take a car up the mountain and go directly to the temple gate. The ancient pines in front of the temple are still there, but the vast meadow has been transformed into a grand temple complex, with a grand scale, but I feel it is more natural and serene than before.

I am not a devout Buddhist, and I don’t know much about burning incense or worshipping Buddha. I am more interested in the natural scenery behind the temple. While waiting for my parents to finish burning incense and paper money, I headed towards the mountain path on the side of the temple.

The mountains are high and the forests are dense. Walking on the secluded mountain path covered with fallen leaves, the branches and leaves are slanted on both sides, interlacing with each other. The scorching sunlight overhead can only sprinkle scattered light spots, the shadows are sparse and mottled, and it is like dusk during the day. Walking leisurely on this path, the summer heat is completely gone, instead, it feels cool against the skin, refreshing the mind.

Everything you see is green. The rocks are covered with moss, as if they are covered with a soft green garment, making you want to gently touch them. Even the impenetrable mountain forest seems to be reluctant to lag behind, and the trunks of the trees are also covered with a layer of green moss. All you see is green, green, green.

But not entirely. Look, if you look carefully, you can see red dots from time to time in the green grass beside the mountain path, red so brightly and so translucent, making you want to pick them up and put them in your mouth to taste their sweetness.

Half a mile into the mountain, you can gradually hear the sound of water rushing. There must be a mountain stream ahead. Sure enough, after walking a few hundred steps, a mountain stream appears in front of you. Large rocks are piled up in the stream, and the water rushes left and right between the rocks. The water hits the rocks, splashing up white water. Choosing a place where the water is shallow, I waded in barefoot. The water was clear and cold, chilling my bones, so I couldn’t stay in it for long.

The scenery I saw on this trip was just a drop in the ocean compared to the magnificent scenery of Ling Shan, but considering the winding and wet mountain path, my parents’ old age, and the fact that there are many bees and butterflies in the mountains, my daughter is afraid, so we went down the mountain. There are still natural wonders like Shuai Shi, Mo Yu Hai, Jin Hai, and Lian San Hai on the mountain. I imagine they are breathtakingly beautiful. Leaving some regrets will give me a reason and a desire to come back again.
