Sanya Family Trip Guide

Sanya is currently the only well-known tropical rainforest-style seaside resort in China. Every scenic spot here is filled with the charm of nature. You will have a wonderful time here. Your baby is small, you can take him/her with you on a family trip, and it’s also very good to play.

This is the second time I’ve taken my child to Sanya. Last year was also this season. This season is great for going to Sanya. There are fewer people, you don’t have to queue for meals and sightseeing, it’s not hot, you can swim, and the prices are cheap, including air tickets, accommodation and meals. In view of the above three points, I decided to go to Sanya again for a self-guided tour during the May Day holiday this year.

If you have friends going to Sanya, don’t sign up for a tour group, because Sanya is not a place suitable for sightseeing, it is more suitable for vacation, find a hotel, lie down for a day, the kids play in the pool, play by the sea, the day is over.

Our itinerary is like this, you can refer to it if you don’t have much time. The May Day holiday is 29th, 30th and 1st, we took a day off before that, so it was 28th, 29th, 30th and 1st. In order to make the most of our time, we bought a flight on the evening of the 27th, which is equivalent to four nights and five days. It’s enough time to stay in Sanya for so many days. Besides, there’s a rule about air tickets, they are more expensive the day before the holiday, and cheaper the day before that. Also, be sure to check the dynamics of flights a few days before you buy your tickets. You can check Feichangzhun and Ctrip. Flights arriving in Sanya at night will be delayed, it is recommended not to buy flights too late.

1. Fly to Sanya on the evening of the 27th. It takes one and a half hours to get to the airport by subway from Zhongnan Road. So be sure to leave two and a half hours, of course, if you take a taxi, it is another calculation.

2. We stayed at the Haitang Bay Banshan Jinjiang Resort Hotel for three nights. The advantage of this hotel is that all the rooms have sea views and there is an infinity pool. The disadvantage is that it is not by the sea, but the hotel has electric cars to take you to the beach. It is recommended to stay in Haitang Bay if you have a limited budget. The seawater is the same as Yalong Bay, it is not inferior to Yalong Bay. We also went to Yalong Bay, the clarity of the seawater is really similar. For children, playing in the sand is the same. And Yalong Bay is far from the city centre, it is not convenient to eat. Staying in Haitang Bay is convenient for eating. I recommend the buffet dinner at Jinjiang Bao Hong Hotel for 108 yuan per person. Oysters, crabs, scallops, sea fish and other seafood are available. This price is also okay.

3. On the fourth night, because of the morning flight, we booked a hotel near Phoenix Airport in Sanya Bay. Sanya Bay is very quiet, and the seawater is now relatively clean, but it is still the worst of the three bays, just there are fewer people, you can pick crabs. Last year when we went to Sanya for the first time, we stayed here all the time. Wanjia Days is an old five-star hotel. We went there again this year, it looks even older, but the pool is still good. It’s ten minutes drive from the airport. I suggest you consider it if you need to catch a flight.

4. Ctrip has a shuttle bus, usually you will get two tickets for free when you book a hotel through Ctrip, 19 yuan per person if you buy them separately, and you can take them for three days. You can take it from Sanya Bay to Yalong Bay, with several stops in between, you can get on and off. Just show the driver the Ctrip message. Haitang Bay Summer Shopping Mall, Sanya Citizen and Tourist Center, Yalong Bay Tianyu all have stops. We took this bus twice during our trip to Sanya, there were very few people, basically no one took it. It was convenient, as long as you plan your time well, you can wait for about ten minutes or so to get the bus.

5. We basically spent our four days swimming in the hotel, playing in the sand on the beach, and only went to Wuzhizhou Island. We had already been to Tianya Haijiao last time, so this time we were just on vacation, we didn’t go to places like Yanota, the tropical rainforest, etc. I recommend that you consider those if you like to play in scenic spots. In addition, I don’t recommend taking a tour group to Wuzhizhou Island. It’s very convenient to go by yourself. Take bus No. 28 for 12 yuan per person and it will take you directly to Wuzhizhou Island. It’s also very convenient to buy tickets and boat tickets at the entrance. When we went, Lvmama had an event at the entrance. You could buy them directly by WeChat, and each person got a 10 yuan discount. Children under 1.2 meters don’t need a ticket. Be sure to take the island tour bus after getting to the island. Many scenic spots are not accessible on foot. I recommend the 120 yuan one, which also allows you to rest on a beach lounge chair for an hour.

In Sanya, during this season, there are really very few people. Buses are also relatively convenient. We didn’t take many buses, but we saw that there weren’t many people on the buses we saw. You can use Didi, which is very convenient. In tourist cities, Didi is very easy to get. You don’t need to rent a car. If you really can’t find one, you can rent a car yourself.
