If you’re looking to go surfing on an island, then these few places are very suitable. Here you can experience the thrill of surfing, and of course, you can also experience the beauty of the island, such as watching a sunrise or playing in the sunset.
Riyue Bay Surfing
Riyue Bay has waves rolling and crashing all year round. From September to March of the following year, the surfing mecca in the north is deserted due to the cold water, while Riyue Bay is in its peak season, with average wave heights of over 1.5 meters and a maximum of 4 meters. During this time, surfers from all over gather here to enjoy the thrill of standing on top of the waves, and there are also surfing competitions.
Beginners can choose to come during the summer small wave season (excluding typhoon season) to take a few surfing lessons and experience the thrill of surfing. The prices of surfing clubs here are similar, with courses divided into group classes (400 yuan/lesson) and one-on-one classes (680～800 yuan/lesson), each lesson lasting 2 hours. If you can stay for a few more days, a package price for three lessons (1080 yuan) or six lessons (1920～2000 yuan) is more affordable. The shops are well-equipped, you need to bring your own swimsuit, towel and sunscreen.
Shenzhou Peninsula
If you’re looking for a quiet and beautiful beach, choose the Shenzhou Peninsula. The Shenzhou Peninsula is located 28 kilometers south of Wanning city center. The island has many attractions, with six mountains behind it and five bays in front of it. The real estate projects and international hotels are concentrated in the first bay, Letao Bay, with gentle waves. The scenic area is perfect for playing in the waves, those who like adventure can enjoy the wild beach in the undeveloped third bay, Yuanshi Bay, or hike on the mountain path.
The Shenzhou Peninsula Beach Club (9:00～12:00, 14:00～18:00) offers paddle surfing, canoeing and jet skiing to individual visitors before 16:00 every day, but the prices are not cheap, and there is a difference between the inside and outside. Owners of nearby properties can enjoy a 7～7.5 discount. The Longyuan Diving Club (9:00～16:00) in the club organizes diving experiences to Zhouzi Island.
