Jing’an Suzhou River Section
The Jing’an District Suzhou River shoreline is about 6.3 kilometers long, with the north bank extending west from Yuanjing Road to Henan North Road, 4.7 kilometers long, and the south bank extending west from Anyuan Road to Chengdu North Road, 1.6 kilometers long. The riverbank in this area is mainly for slow travel and bus priority, and the entire section of the waterfront landscape belt has been set up according to regulations, including riverside paths, cycling paths, blind paths, etc.
1. Xintaikang Warehouse
Secret exhibition base in historical buildings – Xintaikang Warehouse, a Chinese and Western mixed building, with a building area of over 6000 square meters, occupying three floors. It is one of the famous industrial relics on the banks of the Suzhou River. After being carefully repaired and adjusted in functional layout by Longsheng Group under the principle of “repairing the old as new”, it has been transformed into a diverse and fashionable cultural and artistic space, embodying the beauty of fusion between the classic and the modern.
As of February 18, 2022, the large-scale exhibition “Urban Visions: Sustainable Living”, hosted by Foster + Partners, landed at Xintaikang Warehouse.
The exhibition mainly showcases 85 architectural works from around the world designed by the industrial design team of Foster + Partners, including the overall planning of Shanghai Bund, Suhewan East District Urban Complex and Yuexiu Global Financial City. The exhibition is displayed through models, pictures and images. This is also the largest exhibition held by Foster + Partners in Asia.

3. UCCA Edge
Covering an area of 5500 square meters, UCCA Edge was officially completed on May 22, 2021, and opened to the public. The word “Edge” in its name comes from the English name of the building where it is located. It is the third venue of UCCA Ullens Center for Contemporary Art after the establishment of the UCCA Beijing main venue in 2007 and the UCCA Dune Art Museum in Anaya, Beidaihe in 2018. It recently won the first place in the 2021 “Hi Art” Annual Museum List!
UCCA Edge is presenting the exhibition “Becoming Andy Warhol”, showcasing the artistic career of pop art master Andy Warhol. It has triggered a wave of viewing frenzy since its opening. The exhibition will last until March 6, 2022.

4. Butterfly Bay Station
A newly built Butterfly Bay Station next to the Jing’an District Children’s Library has become a new highlight on the banks of the Suzhou River. Staggered waterfront platforms, unique “micro-gardens”, long and neat paths… a whole wall of volcanic stone walls occasionally emits “mist”, giving it a fairyland feel.
The seemingly miniature Butterfly Bay Station not only provides multiple functions, but also activates the surrounding space. People can enjoy coffee at the Scandinavian-style coffee corner, share a self-service art studio, create and exchange, and also contact nature and relax in the rooftop garden. From the garden in front of the station, go up a few steps to reach the Suzhou River path. Its second-floor science and craft space is also connected to the path, breaking the original spatial barriers.
It is expected that in the near future, Butterfly Bay Park, Jing’an District Children’s Library, Butterfly Bay Station and nearby public facilities such as waterfront paths and ball fields will all be interconnected, activating a whole public area.

5. Suhewan Center
In 2020, China Resources Land launched the construction of the Shanghai Jing’an Suhewan Center project, which includes about 47,000 square meters of MixC World commercial space. The construction is currently underway. The rapidly rising Suzhou River waterfront is expected to add a new commercial landmark in the middle of this year!
Landmark office building – Suhewan Center will refresh the skyline of Suhewan and the “One River and One River” with its 200-meter height; “Shenyu Lane” and “Tianhou Palace”, two landmark buildings of old Shanghai, will be rebuilt to restore the former alleyway life. In addition, the above-ground space of Suhewan Center will be used as an urban park – Suhewan Center Green Bay Park, an open urban oasis that can breathe!

1. Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce
The Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce, known as “the first chamber of commerce in China”, was originally named “Shanghai Commercial Conference Office”, established in January 1902 (the twenty-eighth year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty).
The building of the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce, integrating Eastern and Western cultural concepts, has been identified as a municipal excellent historical building and a Grade 2 cultural relic protection unit.
The waterfront space of the General Chamber of Commerce is combined with the public green space along the land to create a whole Jing’an painting and Shanghai figure silhouette installation under the Henan North Road Bridge. Through artistic expression forms, it takes citizens and tourists back to the old Suzhou River to experience the exquisite Haipai style.

2. Four Banks Warehouse
“Four Banks Warehouse” was built in 1931, designed by Tonghe Foreign Firm, with the full name “Four Banks Trust Department Shanghai Branch Warehouse”, located on the north bank of the Suzhou River, at the northwest corner of Xinlashi Bridge, also known as Tibet Road Bridge, It was the joint warehouse of the Four Banks of the North (Jin Cheng Bank, Zhong Nan Bank, Da Lu Bank and Salt Bank).
As the tallest and most solid building in the Zhabei area of Shanghai at that time, the “Four Banks Warehouse” was used as the headquarters of the 88th Division in October 1937. It stored a large amount of food, medical supplies and ammunition. After the outbreak of the Songhu Battle, it became the solid fortress for the Eight Hundred Warriors to defend their homeland.
The pitted walls of the Four Banks Warehouse have become a profound imprint left by history. The People’s Cafe opened on the side of the Four Banks Warehouse, using “black technology” to reproduce this moving story.

3. Fuxin Flour Mill
The site of the Shanghai Fuxin Flour Mill was built in 1912. It was once the largest privately owned mechanized flour mill in Shanghai, covering an area of about 4,300 square meters. The existing main building is a three-story brick-concrete structure, with a small balcony on the second floor of the main facade, with ornate iron railings. The outer corridor on the third floor has four Doric columns, with a triangular gable on the top. The back facade has protruding balconies on the second and third floors, and the window frames have modern style decorations.
