Gansu Liujiagou Dinosaur National Geopark

Gansu Liujiagou Dinosaur National Geopark is located on the north bank of the Yanguoxia Reservoir (now known as Taiji Lake) in Yongjing County, Gansu Province. It is 54 kilometers east of the provincial capital Lanzhou, 34 kilometers southeast of Yongjing County by water, and there is a railway line passing by, making it very convenient to travel. The park covers an area of 15 square kilometers, including a water surface of 1.8 square kilometers. The geopark is dominated by groups of dinosaur footprints. The geopark is composed of rare Cretaceous dinosaur footprint fossils, dinosaur lying traces, tail drag marks, dung traces, as well as late Cretaceous stratigraphic sections, third-level erosion surfaces, paleontological fossil points, mud traces and ripple marks, and other sedimentary structures, normal faults and folds, etc., which constitute a natural geological relic landscape with high scientific research, popular science and tourism value.

Taiji Island Wetland Park

Taiji Island Wetland Park has “high gorge and flat lake” scenery, “gulls flying together” bird kingdom and “red mountain, white soil head, Yellow River flows westward” landscape, known as “Jiangnan of the Gobi”. In addition to the thousands of acres of naturally growing reed marshes in the park, there are also continuous lotus ponds and fish ponds. The island also has a pier, pavilions, viewing towers, sports fields, and a variety of flower landscapes, forming a unique landscape. Yellow River Red Cliff

“Red Mountain, white soil head, Yellow River flows westward” describes a red rock cliff more than 3 kilometers long, which is a typical Danxia landform. Scenic Area Introduction

Liujiagou Reservoir is located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, 1 kilometer southwest of Yongjing County/City in Linxia, Gansu Province, 75 kilometers away from Lanzhou City. It is a large-scale hydropower project designed, constructed and built independently by China during the First Five-Year Plan, completed in 1974. It is the seventh-step power station in the development plan of the upper reaches of the Yellow River, with multiple functions such as power generation, flood control, irrigation, aquaculture, shipping, and tourism. The reservoir is located in a high-altitude canyon and is known as the “Pearl of the Plateau”, with spectacular scenery.
