Compared to Beijing, Shanghai has a big advantage: more surrounding tourist destinations and convenient transportation. As spring arrives, the people of Shanghai can prepare for outings, and there are so many places to go! What are some places to go for an outing around Shanghai? Let me recommend some below.
One, Fengxian
Want to see canola flowers? There are 100,000 acres of golden fields welcoming you at your doorstep! Although they don’t have the picturesque terraced fields of Wuyuan or the winding rivers and blue water of Xinghua, walking through the boundless sea of flowers in Fengxian, with the golden fields blooming in vibrant celebration, and the gentle breeze sending waves of gold rolling across the fields, the intoxicating fragrance will quickly make you feel intoxicated.
Flower viewing time: March-April (Canola Flower Festival is from March 26th to April 13th)
Transportation:
1. By bus: Take the Canola Flower Festival special line, Lianzhuang special line, Nanmei line or Puwei line from the Shanghai Tourist Collection Center to Nanqiao, then transfer to Line 2 of Zhuangxing
2. By car: (1) (From west Shanghai) S4 (formerly A4) – G1501 Ring Expressway (formerly A30) (exit at Puwei Road) – Nanhuang Road – Golden Farm; (2) (From east Shanghai) Jiyang Road – Puxing Highway – Nanfeng Highway – Nanting Highway – Zhuangliang Road – Golden Farm
If you’ve seen Qiong Yao’s “One Curtain of Dreams”, you must remember the scene where Zilings sits by the window, watching the string of bead curtains, singing her own melancholic dream every day. In April in Jiading, the story seems to come back to life. As one of the only three wisteria gardens in the world, in Jiading Wisteria Garden, every late April, strings of purple wisteria flowers like purple wind chimes hang like waterfalls, beautiful in the sunlight. The setting sun casts a shadow on the flower racks, creating a dreamy and ethereal scene. There’s also a tempting fragrance that will make you lose yourself. Quickly take advantage of the clear and bright weather, breathe in the air full of floral fragrance, and savor the taste of this spring afternoon.
Transportation:
1. By bus: Take Metro Line 11 to Jiading West Station, get off at Jiading West Station bus stop, take bus 11 to Bole Road Jinsha Road station, and walk 400 meters to the destination
2. By car: Take the Middle Ring Road or the Outer Ring Road to the Hujia Expressway, take the Jiading City exit, drive straight to Bole Road, turn right after crossing the small bridge. Free parking
Three, Chongming Island
Chongming Island is very familiar to the people of Shanghai, but every April, its impressive beauty makes it an undeniable choice. Plus, you don’t have to worry about crowds, this lush island must have corners you’ve never been to. Hop on a bicycle and leisurely let the wheels roll over the grass, green fields, and forests, ride into the spring, and let your lungs and heart breathe in the “forest” together!
Transportation:
1. By bus/boat: Take Metro Line 3 to Baoyang Road (5 yuan), get off at the subway station exit and transfer to bus 9 (2 yuan) for four stops to Baoyang Wharf, take the express boat from the wharf (18 yuan) for about 40 minutes to the south gate of Chongming Island; then transfer to the Nan Dong line or Nanjiang line (5 yuan) from the Nanmen bus station, about 35 minutes to Dongping National Forest Park (70 yuan); or take the Shenchong line from downtown Shanghai directly to Chongming County
2. By car: Shanghai Pudong – Yangtze River Tunnel Bridge – Chenhai Highway (toll is 50 yuan one way)
