Speaking of Lichuan, it is more like an adventure, an adventure in the forest, meeting all your expectations. Lichuan’s scenery is very beautiful, but if you are a solo traveler, you should not go here because it requires an adventurous spirit to enjoy the fun scenery.
If you want to enjoy the cool breeze in the scorching heat, escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and breathe the fresh air of the mountains—then come to Lichuan.
Lichuan is known as the “Cool Capital of Central China”. It has a good ecological environment and pleasant climate, making it a summer resort for vacation and leisure.
We set off by car in the morning. Upon arrival at our destination, we got off the car and started walking along the mountain trail of the marathon.
The rugged mountain road twists and turns. The stone road has been polished shiny by the mountain people.
The Lichuan 2017 Mountain Marathon race course strung together the natural scenery of the “Three Dragon Gates” on the ancient riverbed of the Qingjiang River, Huachian Valley Scenic Area, Tenglong Cave Scenic Area, and Baiqueshan Homestay, blending natural landscapes with ethnic culture. It integrated “humanistic flower sea scenery, karst natural scenery, and ethnic folk culture”, allowing each runner to experience the release of surpassing themselves while participating in the race, and also feel the unique natural and humanistic beauty of Lichuan. Therefore, after the first race held in 2016, this is the second time, once again allowing athletes to appreciate the natural scenery of Lichuan while competing.
This section, known as “Goodman Slope”, is the most dangerous part of the ancient riverbed, but for hikers, it’s a piece of cake.
A natural cave appeared ahead, and we hiked through it. This cave doesn’t have a name, so let’s call it Cave No. 1.
Dragon Gate Cave No. 1
What is this? The beam of light from the lamp and the faintly visible figures. This is the trail left behind when walking through the cave in the dark, illuminated by the light of the mobile phone.

Coming out of Dragon Gate Cave No. 3, there is a mysterious place opposite — Dujiazhai.
Do you see it? A mountain peak in the distance, with a cave in the middle. This is Dujiazhai, meaning a single household, with only one family living there. Once the mountain gate is closed, outsiders cannot get in.
Here, an old man walks towards the mountain gate. He is the owner of Dujiazhai, having lived in the village for a lifetime. If you ask him to move down to the mountain now, he won’t come down.
Passing the gate of Dujiazhai, this is the house of the owner of Dujiazhai, just a cave.
Ahead is a rock crevice, known as “One Line Sky”.
After passing through “One Line Sky”, a beautiful woman makes an appearance.
Coming out of these large and small caves, there is still a rugged path. We will follow this path straight to the finish line of the race – Tenglong Cave.
Looking back at the route we just passed, it was both exciting and enjoyed beautiful scenery.
