Generally, when traveling around the city, people choose to drive themselves. However, the suburban tour we are going to talk about today is by train. Recently, the activity “Traveling Beijing by Train” has attracted a lot of tourists’ curiosity. It mainly follows the suburban railway lines such as S1 line, S2 line, and S5 line. Let me introduce them to you.
1、S5 Suburban Railway Line
The S5 Suburban Railway Line, also known as the Huai-Mi Line, is affectionately called “another train to spring” because it runs through mountain areas and flower seas, with many scenic spots along the line and stunning scenery along the way. Currently, the Huai-Mi Line has 6 stations: Qinghe Station, Changping North Station, Yanqi Lake Station, Huairou North Station, Heishan Temple Station, and Gubeikou Station. After the Huai-Mi Line is introduced into Beijing North Station at the end of September, the total length will reach 144.8 kilometers, with 7 stations.
Scenic route:
The S5 line runs from Qinghe Station to Gubeikou Station, connecting Yanqi Lake, Hongluo Temple, Qinglong Gorge, Yunmeng Mountain, Heilongtan, Simatai Great Wall, Gubeishui Town, and many other scenic spots. Especially Yunmeng Mountain Scenic Area, which is adjacent to Heishan Temple Station, has towering mountains, unique and beautiful strange rocks, waterfalls and springs all over the place, lush forests and flowers, combining the magnificence of Mount Tai, the danger of Mount Hua, the wonders of Mount Huangshan, and the beauty of Mount Emei. It is a natural landscape with great beauty.
2、S1 Suburban Railway Line
Beijing Suburban Railway City Sub-Center Line, also known as Beijing Suburban Railway S1 Line, runs from Beijing West Station to Qiaozhuang East Station, with a total length of 32.7 kilometers. There are 5 stations along the way from west to east: Beijing West, Beijing, Beijing East, Tongzhou, and Qiaozhuang East.
Scenic route:
The landmark scenic spot selected by the S1 line is the Grand Canal Forest Park. Tourists can take the S1 line from Beijing West Station or Beijing Station to Tongzhou West Station or Qiaozhuang East Station. At the Grand Canal Forest Park in Tongzhou, tourists can experience the Grand Canal culture and wetland scenery.
The profound history and modern vitality are perfectly integrated in the Beijing City Sub-Center. Tourists can enjoy the northern water town-style ecological leisure, see the “Bird’s Nest” on the bank of the Grand Canal, smell the fragrance of lotus in the wetland, listen to the chirping of birds and insects, appreciate flowers, sketch, watch wild birds, experience the unique scenery changes at every step in this natural oxygen bar, and experience a comfortable and quiet life on the waterfront. Enjoy the gentle breeze on the bank of the Grand Canal and watch the beautiful rippling waters of the Grand Canal.
3、S2 Suburban Railway Line
Beijing Suburban Railway S2 Line (City Center-Badaling, Yanqing), also known as the S2 Line. Beijing Suburban Railway S2 Line has a total length of 108.3 kilometers with 6 stations: Huangtudian, Nankou, Badaling, Yanqing, Kangzhuang, and Shacheng. It is China’s first suburban railway, born for the Olympics. It adds a convenient way for citizens to travel and combines the functions of tourist trains and commuter trains.
Scenic route:
The Beijing S2 Line starts from Huangtudian Station in Changping, Beijing and ends at Yanqing Station in Yanqing District and Shacheng Station in Huailai County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. When the S2 Line passes through the Juyongguan Great Wall, the mountains on both sides are planted with various plants, especially peach trees, cherry trees and apricot trees. Therefore, every spring when the plants on the mountains are in full bloom, the S2 train is like passing through a flower sea. Therefore, the “Harmony Great Wall Train” train set used by this line is also nicknamed “the train to spring”.
4、Tongmi Line
Beijing Suburban Railway Tongmi Line, formerly known as Beijing Suburban Railway Jingcheng Line. It runs from Tongzhou West Station to Miyun North Station (branch line to Huairou North Station) with 7 stations: Tongzhou West Station, Shunyi Station, Niulanshan Station, Huairou Station, Miyun North Station, Yanqi Lake Station and Huairou North Station, with a total length of 83.4 kilometers.

The Tongmi Line starts from Tongzhou West and goes all the way to Miyun North Station, passing through Shunyi Station. It develops two scenic spots: the first is Qingliang Valley and the second is Changyu Aifibao. The whole line is about 70 minutes long. Among them, Changyu Aifibao International Winery in Beijing is located in Dongbaiyan, Jijiazhuang Town. The hotel rooms are all built in a European town surrounded by trees.
