When it comes to Thousand Island Lake, most people’s first reaction is Hangzhou. If you happen to be planning a trip to Hangzhou Thousand Island Lake recently, but are worried that the airfare is too expensive, or the airfare is acceptable but afraid that the scenery will be crowded once you get to the scenic spot… actually you can consider another “Thousand Island Lake” right in front of you – Huangshi Yangxin Xiandao Lake. Xiandao Lake is known as “the world’s three major Thousand Island Lakes” together with Hangzhou Thousand Island Lake and Thousand Islands in Canada.

Silverfish is a special product of Xiandao Lake, usually local fishermen catch it and dry it themselves, this small and transparent fish can only survive in particularly good water quality.

There are not many restaurants on the island, they are expensive and the food is average. There is a corridor on the way back from Xihu Gallery, with mountains and water, and the price is also very reasonable.

The restaurants on Xianlong Island are relatively expensive, I wanted to go ashore and have a good meal, but I couldn’t resist the little princess’s hunger. Perhaps everyone was really hungry, they devoured the food like a whirlwind, and the food was wiped out.

Route

1. From Dunkou, take the East Third Ring Road, get on the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway from Jiangxia Wudong Toll Station, turn to Daguang, then take S317 and Wharf Road to the ticket office. The whole journey is about 160 kilometers and the toll is 60 yuan;

2. From Dunkou, take Hanhong Expressway, turn to Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, Xiatong Expressway, Qi Jia Expressway, then take S317 and Wharf Road to the ticket office. The whole journey is 150 kilometers.

To avoid wasting time in urban congestion, we finally chose option 2.

We started planning before the National Day, and finally set off on October 11, 2015, the key is that this week is a single day off, and I have to go on a business trip the next day, you can see that everyone, including me, is really keen on playing.

The scenery along the way set off at 8:20 in the morning, one H6, one CRV, one 508 (ranked in order of recent sales), a total of 11 people (including 1 princess and 1 prince), although not as many as planned, but if you line up 11 people also count as a grand team.

Exit the expressway from the S317 exit, exit Shuangxi toll station, toll is 60 yuan. After entering the provincial road, the scenery is prominent. On both sides of the road, green trees surround the mountains, and golden rice fields stretch as far as the eye can see. In Wangying Village near Xiandao Lake, there are many Hui-style buildings. Hui-style residences have high, enclosed walls, and appear staggered due to the design of the horse-head walls. From a high point of view, in the villages where people gather, the high and low horse-head walls give people a sense of “thousands of horses galloping” visually, and also metaphorically that the whole clan is thriving and prosperous.

The high horse-head wall can serve as a fire barrier, so the horse-head wall is also called the “fire wall”. The horse-head walls are staggered in height, generally in two or three layers, and for larger residences, because they have front and back halls, the number of layers of the horse-head walls can be as many as five, commonly known as “five peaks facing the sky”.

Along the way, you can also see many ancestral halls, the tall gate towers stand on the side of the road, plus the staggered horse-head walls, adding a sense of history. It is said that these ancestral halls are mostly left over from the Ming and Qing dynasties, with exquisite carvings and paintings, forming a unique ancestral hall culture.

Ancestral halls are special places for ordinary people to worship their ancestors, hold meetings, and hold weddings and funerals. Later, they also developed into schools or private schools. At the same time, some ancestral halls also have unique stage buildings. Think about some small towns in Europe, one unremarkable castle, one dark house, a history of hundreds or thousands of years, while our historical legacy, is either being moved or developed. History has truly become the product of schools and libraries, I really hope that these ancestral halls with distinct characteristics can be preserved intact.
