Venue Guide
The Shanghai Museum has two entrances, south and north. The south entrance faces Wusong Road and Yan’an Road overpass, and the north entrance faces People’s Square and the Municipal Government building. The museum currently has eleven special halls:
The first floor is the Chinese Ancient Bronze Hall and the Chinese Ancient Sculpture Hall;
The second floor is the Chinese Ancient Ceramics Hall and the Zhandélou Ceramics Hall;
The third floor is the Chinese Painting Hall of All Dynasties, the Chinese Calligraphy Hall of All Dynasties, and the Chinese Seal Hall of All Dynasties;
The fourth floor is the Chinese Minority Arts Hall, the Chinese Jade Hall of All Dynasties, the Chinese Ming and Qing Furniture Hall, and the Chinese Coin Hall of All Dynasties.
Scenic Spot Introduction
The Shanghai Museum is one of the largest museums in southern China, with over 120,000 pieces of fine museum collections. The museum has collected historical relics from all dynasties and regions of the country, with ancient bronze wares, ceramics, calligraphy and painting being its most distinctive features. Among them, the large Duke Ke Ding of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Duke Zi Zhong Jiang Pan of the Spring and Autumn Period, and Sun Wei’s “High Recluse Painting” of the Tang Dynasty, Wang Xizhi’s “Duck Head Pill Post” of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, etc., are all national treasures of world renown. In the Chinese Ancient Bronze Hall of the Shanghai Museum, it houses the treasure of the museum – the large Duke Ke Ding of the Western Zhou Dynasty, as well as the Spring and Autumn Xi Zun, Zi Zhong Jiang Pan and other treasures. The ancient ceramics hall houses the Shang primitive green porcelain Zun, the Tang Yue kiln crabapple-shaped large bowl, the set of Song Ru kiln plates, the Yuan Jingdezhen kiln blue and white lotus pot, etc., all exquisite masterpieces; the ancient calligraphy hall houses Wang Xizhi’s “Shangyu Post”, Wang Xizhi’s “Duck Head Pill Post”, Song Huizong’s thin gold “Thousand Character Classic”, etc., all masterpieces; while in the ancient painting hall, Tang Sunwei’s “High Recluse Painting”, Dong Yuan’s “Summer Mountain Scroll” of the Five Dynasties, Liang Kai’s “Eight High Monks Story Scroll” of the Song Dynasty, etc., are all rare treasures.
