The concept of a road is different for different people. For philosophers, a road can have different meanings depending on the context. For those who are on the road, they want to reach their destination as soon as possible. When talking about the most beautiful roads in China, many people will think of Route 66. But today I want to introduce you to China’s Route 1 and some of the unique scenery you’ll encounter along the way.
The Yellow River Highway is a highly recommended route for many self-driving tours. It’s a road where you can admire the Wei River, wetlands, lakes and canyons! The beauty of self-driving is that you’re constantly on the road, with the wind blowing in your ears, creating a peaceful and alluring experience.
Regarding the attractions along the way
1. A street of Ming and Qing Dynasty ancient cities.
Many of the attractions here still retain their original appearance, with little alteration. The shops along the street look very much like those in costume dramas. As you walk through the archway of the arcade, you’ll encounter various small shops one after another, offering everything you need for food, clothing and daily necessities.
2. Red Stone Gorge and Zhenbei Terrace
Here you can not only experience the ruggedness of Red Stone Gorge, but also see a different kind of sand sculpture. Most importantly, you can taste the local delicacies of Yulin.
3. Baiyun Mountain
This mountain has a certain history, and the Taoist temple on Baiyun Mountain is visited by a lot of people before the college entrance exam and after the New Year. No matter what your beliefs are, having faith gives you hope, which is a good thing.
4. Hukou Waterfall
After the most beautiful waterfall sunset encounter with the Jiuzhaigou earthquake, this second largest waterfall became a rare sight. It has been featured in many films and TV dramas, and the waterfall has witnessed everything, yet it remains unchanged over the years. This is the charm of nature.
5. Liangjiahe
The people here usually live in earthen houses, which are low but warm in winter and cool in summer. “Where Are We Going, Dad?” was also filmed here.
There are many more beautiful sights along China’s Route 1. The local culture is also very different. It’s a great experience to learn about different customs and lifestyles.
