1、Zhongshan National Forest Park

Zhongshan National Forest Park features “urban shallow mountains, living springs, dense forests, clouds and rain, and historical relics” as its scenery. It combines forest ecological protection, leisure recreation, forest health, sports fitness, science education, and cultural experience into one urban national forest park. The main peak of Zhongshan National Forest Park is 391 meters above sea level. The main peaks in the park include Jinzhong Mountain, Erjian Mountain, Dajian Mountain, and Daduling, making it a good place to go hiking and climbing in Zhongshan. Zhongshan hikers’ hiking routes are mostly located within Zhongshan National Forest Park, such as the Shuimu Garden→Dajian Mountain hiking route, the Xiuli Lake→Dajian Mountain→Luyin Lake hiking route, etc.

2、Wugui Mountain

Wugui Mountain is the highest peak in Zhongshan City. “Wugui Xiongfeng” is the highest peak at the Pearl River Estuary and one of the ten scenic spots in Zhongshan. The main peak of Wugui Mountain is about 531 meters above sea level. The mountains are rolling, surrounded by green trees, and the scenery is very beautiful. There are large and small gardens, strange rocks, exotic birds, flowing springs and waterfalls, and beautiful scenery. The plants and animals are diverse. The mountain trails are all concrete roads, which are not difficult to walk. It takes less than two hours to reach the top. There are rich mountain and forest landscapes, exotic flowers and plants, full of vitality. The best time to hike here is in autumn and winter, especially in early December, when the Metasequoia in the Changjiang Reservoir in the Wugui Mountain Valley turns red, comparable to Jiuzhai, making it a good place for photography.

3、Dajian Mountain

The Dajian Mountain range is located in the southeast of Shiqi District, with the main peak, Dajian Mountain, at 391 meters above sea level. There are also mountains over 300 meters above sea level, including Tianzangfen, Shibadong, Daduling, and Shi’tou Mountain. The Dajian Mountain Forest Park was built here, making it a good place to go hiking and climbing in Zhongshan. As the backbone of Zhongshan, Dajian Mountain stands alone and is very dangerous. There are two recommended hiking routes on Dajian Mountain: one starts from Shigu Bei Kengkou, which is wider and steeper, with stone steps. The other route is located on the southeast side of the mountain, with a flat sandy road extending to the distance, facing the mountain on one side and a stream valley on the other. There are some small paths on the hiking route, mostly overgrown with weeds and rarely visited, suitable for experienced hikers.

4、Tianxin Forest Park

Tianxin Forest Park is located at the foot of the main peak of Wugui Mountain. The park is divided into areas for plant science popularization and sightseeing, ecological conservation, and fitness hiking. It has hiking trails built along the mountain, as well as Hundred Flowers Garden, Cherry Blossom Garden, Rhododendron Garden, Moonlight Pond, Rainbow Bridge, Children’s Park, Wooden Plank Road, and more than 10 other scenic spots. Tianxin Forest Park is a good place to go hiking in Zhongshan. A friendly reminder, the hiking path in Tianxin Park is built halfway up the mountain, where the path is rugged, with many steep slopes. It takes about 3 hours to walk around the mountainside hiking path. The best time to hike here is in spring and autumn, from March to May in spring, when you can go hiking and enjoy the spring scenery.

5、Zhongshan Arboretum

Zhongshan Arboretum is located in the southern suburbs of Zhongshan City, making it a good place to go hiking and climbing in Zhongshan. The park has a beautiful environment, pleasant scenery, suitable for taking children, high forest coverage, and plenty of negative ions. It takes about an hour and a half to walk around the mountain. The park has built 15 kilometers of hiking trails and 8 kilometers of mountain ring roads, with complete hiking infrastructure.

6、Li Tou Jian Mountain

Li Tou Jian Mountain is adjacent to Cuiheng Village, east of the Pearl River Estuary. It is named after its shape resembling a plow, and is the highest peak in Cuiheng, Nanlang. There are many bougainvillea planted along the path up the mountain. The flowers bloom in spring, dyeing the mountain slope pink. There is an observation deck on the mountain. The flower field plank road below the observation deck is planted with azaleas and purple jade orchids. This is the flower season, and the branches are full of pink flowers waiting for people to admire. The location of the observation deck is excellent, offering views of the surrounding scenery – close by are the buildings of Zhongshan City, and in the distance are the newly renovated Nanyang riding buildings, as well as paddy fields and fish ponds.

There is also a Sun family tomb group on Li Tou Jian Mountain, which can be reached by stone steps. It houses the tombs of Sun Zhongshan’s grandfather Sun Jingxian, father Sun Dacheng, elder brother Sun Mei, and nephew Sun Chang, among others. Sun Jingxian’s tomb is located on the northeast side of Li Tou Jian Mountain, with a field called “Emperor Field” below it, built in the Qing Dynasty.

Li Tou Jian Mountain belongs to the Sun Yat-sen’s Former Residence Tourist Area, which currently implements a reservation system. Visitors are requested to make a reservation through the WeChat applet “Sun Yat-sen’s Former Residence Tourist Area” before visiting Li Tou Jian Mountain. Wear a mask, maintain a 1-meter distance, take good self-protection measures, cooperate with staff to present your Yuekang code and itinerary card, voluntarily have your temperature measured, arrange your tour time reasonably, and travel in staggered peaks.

7、Aji Mountain Forest Park

Shenwan Town Aji Mountain Forest Park is located in Shenxi Village, Shenwan Town, covering an area of 255.85 hectares. It is called Aji Mountain because its peak is much higher than the surrounding mountains, and from afar it looks like a girl’s bun. From the Jianzhong Orchard entrance, after a short walk, you can see pineapples planted all over the mountains. Aji Mountain is famous for producing Shenwan pineapples, making it a true “Pineapple Mountain”. Visitors can pick pineapples themselves at the mountaintop, 318 meters above sea level. The ripeness of the pineapples brings summer to your taste buds.
